Grab your shapes, and grab your colors! It’s time to get silly and make some faces. Join Lauren from Manic Pixie Dream Squirrel at Friend Museum to learn the basics of portraiture, break a bunch of glass, and create your own exceedingly cool fused glass portrait. Working off of photos or images that you’ll bring with you, we’ll dive into the process of translating a real face into components that make up an illustration. Then, we’ll use that as a map to bring your creation to life — using real glass that you’ll get to score, break, paint, and glue.
Each student will get to make one 4”x4” portrait. Each portrait will include a hook for easy hanging and will be fused in a kiln off-site. Finished pieces will be delivered to Friend Museum one week after class in the afternoon.
